The 'AI Efficiency' excuse is just corporate greed.

Just got out of a meeting where half the customer support department was laid off. The reason given was 'leveraging AI for increased efficiency'. The reality is our company just posted record profits. It feels like AI is becoming a convenient excuse to cut costs at the expense of loyal employees. It's dehumanizing.
